3. One hour of advice and counsel from a practicing Michigan family law attorney to address questions as they arise is included in the price of eDIVORCE. This advice and counsel may be through e-mail, phone, or in person by your choice. Additional advice and counsel is available on an hourly basis.
4. eDIVORCE provides you with all the court documents completed and ready for your review and signature. No blank forms to complete. No typing. Completed documents are e-mailed to you along with instructions for filing, serving and processing.
5. If your divorce should become unexpectedly contested or otherwise complicated you may apply the entire fee paid for eDIVORCE toward a retainer fee.  Why Choose eDIVORCE?
eDIVORCE offers an innovative and unique approach to self-help divorce that remains affordable while avoiding the pitfalls of do-it-yourself divorce books and kits.

eDIVORCE provides you with a review by a practicing Michigan family law attorney of the information submitted by your intake questionnaire. In the typical do-it-yourself book or kit there is no opportunity to have your personal circumstances reviewed to help you identify if your divorce is appropriate for do-it-yourself. This is where the services of an attorney can be the greatest help. Matters such as retirements, inheritance, spousal support and custody can be complicated and not altogether intuitive. If you don't raise the appropriate issues in your divorce you might hurt yourself in ways in ways you won't discover until years later.

eDIVORCE also provides you with someone to turn to for advice and to answer questions.

eDIVORCE prepares all court documents for you. There are no confusing forms to fill out. No typing. You review the documents for accuracy and truthfulness, sign and file.

eDIVORCE lets you apply your fee 100% towards a retainer for representation if you discover you need a lawyer (available in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Genesee, Lapeer and Saginaw Counties.) I Have assisted a number of clients over the years who started out with a do-it-yourself "uncontested" divorce that left them high and dry when the divorce turned out to not be as "uncontested" as was first thought. Divorcing spouses can change their minds, events arise that are unforeseen and divorce is a time of great upset and emotion turmoil. The issues can quickly become complex and hotly contested. The self-help users might well find themselves over their heads and sorry that they ever started the divorce alone.

Finally the self-help method requires the user to acquire a degree of personal expertise in a subject that hopefully they will never use again. Many intelligent people don't know which court house to file in, where the Friend of the Court is located or how to mail items by certified mail. They can be perplexed and overwhelmed by a stack of forms. Even once the Judgment of Divorce is obtained there is often the need to implement the provisions through specialized documents such as deeds, liens, and court orders affecting pensions and health care. Although many persons can figure the way through a divorce, almost all would benefit from expert and experienced advice, sometimes on even the simplest of matters.  RETURN TO FAQ LIST
